A message from Dr. Macner:

Welcome! Helping people hear better and communicate more effectively with family, friends, and coworkers is what I enjoy most. I pursued a degree in audiology not only because of my love for science and medicine, but because audiologists can create immediate measurable improvements in the quality of life for their patients. I received my Doctor of Audiology (Au.D) degree from Central Michigan University and have been a practicing audiologist since 1993. Prior to attending CMU, I earned my Masters of Science (M.S.) degree in Audiology at the University of Washington – Seattle, and prior to that, my Bachelors of Art's (B.A.) degrees in Communication Disorders and Sciences and Psychology at the University of Colorado – Boulder.

Immediately prior to opening Champlain Valley Audiology, I served on the faculty of the State University of New York at Plattsburgh for more than 13 years, where, as a lecturer and Assistant Professor, I instructed undergraduate and graduate students in Audiology coursework, and directed clinical audiology services. It was my position to understand the research surrounding hearing, impart that knowledge to students, and apply it to my adult and pediatric hearing impaired patients. At SUNY Plattsburgh, I was also fortunate to be a member of a multidisciplinary auditory and language processing team, which included an amazing team of experienced speech-language pathologists and psychologists. I have also enjoyed working in two hospitals, and in an otolaryngology practice.

Currently, I am a licensed audiologist by the New York State Department of Education as well as a licensed Hearing Aid Dispenser by the New York State Department of State. I maintain certification by the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA), the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and maintain fellowship with the American Academy of Audiology (AAA).

Growing up in Colorado and living in the western states created in me a love for outdoor recreation. When not working for my patients and referring practitioners, I stay very busy with my family, which includes my husband, two children and several pets. I particularly enjoy watching my children participate in sports and to see them happy. My personal fitness passion is CrossFit, which keeps me focused and strong. I stay as involved as possible with community and church activities and thank God daily for the blessings He has provided.

Operating Champlain Valley Audiology allows me to provide a level of patient care that I have truly not experienced in any other setting. I firmly believe that Champlain Valley Audiology provides the most patient-centered, professionally delivered hearing and tinnitus care in the Plattsburgh, NY region. I am so proud of this organization and I look forward to helping you achieve your hearing or tinnitus goals!
